The 45th FVAA Annual Regional Juried Art Show will take place at the Fairfield Center for Creative Arts, Fairfield CA, early in 2008 and is open to the public with no charge. Fairfield Visual Arts Association has produced the Annual Regional Juried Art Show for 44 prior years with the assistance of dedicated volunteers and the cooperation of the City of Fairfield Community Services Department. Funding is provided through a grant from the City of Fairfield, Advocates for the Arts and donations of businesses and private patrons. Current 2008 Fairfield Visual Arts Association Juried Art Show Schedule:

Art Submission Day (art will be received in a number of categories): Saturday, Feb 2nd
Jury Day (all received submissions are reviewed and juried): Sunday, Feb 3rd
Show Hanging (all selected art is hung and arranged by staff and volunteers): Monday, Feb 4th through Wednesday, Feb 6th
Opening Day (the day the juried show is opened for public viewing): Thursday, Feb 7th
Show Reception (Artist's Reception and Award Ceremony, public invited): Thursday, Feb 21st - 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Juror's Talk (an open and candid discussion on the pieces selcted and not selected for the show by the Jurors): Saturday, March 29th
Pick Up Day (times when all art must be picked up from the gallery): Saturday, March 29th & Sunday, March 30th

The Gallery will be open Thurdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm throughout the duration of the show (excluding March 21st & 22nd for Easter)

The 45th Annual Regional Juried Art Show will showcase approximately 125 pieces of art chosen by a jury of 3 professionals from the Bay Area visual arts community. Hundreds, if not thousands of pieces of art will be entered in the show, although not all will be selected for presentation. The participants will be from a wide regional area and represent all mediums of art.

The Regional Juried Art Show is produced by FVAA artists and volunteers with a grant from the City of Fairfield Community Services Cultural Arts Awards Program and a grant from Advocates for the Arts.  FVAA is a  member of the Solano County Arts Council.  The Fairfield Visual Arts Association is funded entirely by donations, grants, and membership support. Your contributions are vital to the survival of this community arts event.  Donations benefit the growth and development of cultural life in our community.

THE 2008 JURORS ARE:



Diana Daniels:

Diana is currently the assistant curator of the Crocker Art Museum and has completed her graduate studies in art history at the University of Kansas. Currently, she is organizing an exhibition of Pop Art and is involved in planning for the 2010 opening of the Crocker’s new 100,000 sq. ft. expansion. Daniels is interested in a wide range of media, techniques, and genres. She values design and excellent craftsmanship, but responds foremost to skilled execution in service to strong intellectual concept.


Matt McKinley:

Developed over the course of curating and designing over 400 exhibits (and counting) since 1999, primarily with ARTwork SF, Matt’s curatorial approach is renowned for his keen eye for color relationships, his sensitivity in facilitating imagery interaction within his layout designs and the diversity of topics addressed through his thematic exhibits. Among other things, Matt has also concepted, curated and designed fundraising exhibits for SOMARTS gallery, San Francisco Sex Information, The Artists’ Resource Center of San Francisco and Project Open Hand.


Marc Lancet:

Marc Lancet is an internationally recognized ceramic artist and a professor of 3-D art at Solano College in Fairfield, CA. His work ranges from moderate scale to large architectural pieces, sometimes incorporating metal and other materials. He co-authored a book with Masakazu Kusakabe called "Japanese Woodfired Ceramics." Lancet holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture and a Master of Arts degree in Education from UCSB. In addition, he has studied at L'Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts, Paris, France and apprenticed in fine art casting at a foundry also in Paris.
